Dearest family,
Kristina Genieve put up a valiant struggle against her disease. She must have been so tired of the fight, and distressed to leave her family behind. She did what she could, it's been such a long stretch. But it's God's will that she has moved on to her higher calling. She will be missed something fierce, but she's dear to our hearts and will remain close in all of our lives. Thank you all for being there for us at this sad time, it eases the burden more than words can express.

I was very sorry to hear of Kris' passing and thank Patricia Leahy for sending me a card. I worked with Kris for many years here at NBC and always admired her talent and dedication to the job. She was a true member of the Sports Machine family for more than a decade and was dearly loved by all.

To the entire Leahy family,

I want to thank you for all the warmth, music and fun that you showed me and the very important lesson you all taught me at Kris' funeral and afterwards. I miss her so much and still have trouble coming to grips with the fact that she is not on this Earth with us, but (see certificate below) thought this was a way to honor her memory. I entered her name to be be on a microchip on the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter going to the moon!

It is September 2008, and I have just learned of Kris's death. I am so sorry. I worked with her for several years at the NewsHour. She was an immensely talented artist, and friendly to anyone who walked through the door. She lit up when telling stories about her daughters, of whom she was very proud, and her husband, to whom she was very dedicated. I can't imagine your loss. My sympathies. -Mark Phemister

I am so deeply saddened by the passing of my dear friend, Kris.

People come and go in our lives, but Kris is someone I came to love.
We met at work (The Newshour and at NBC); her sense of wit, compassion, talent, and trueness of character brought us together as friends.

I did enjoy my "tea time" with her which is something she said she missed, too on the last Christmas card I received in 2007. It was the one upon which she drew the "partridge in a pear tree". It is so beautiful it stands to this day in my dining room.

I have spent the past year and a half wondering why I haven't been able to reach Kris. This morning I found out why.

God Bless you, my friend.
I wish I was there to say goodbye.
I miss you.
See you later,
Dawn
